Wow, an exciting start to Book Week this year as the children went down through the rabbit hole as they entered school this morning.
After the register the children ‘unwrapped’ their class book for the week
They toured the school and came across the Mad Hatter’s tea party, some keys and a caterpillar!
After lunch the children in Elm and Willow joined us to share our favourite books.
Then we began making our ‘Mad Hatters’ Hats for the tea party on Thursday!
Instructions and they started by looking at instructions on ‘how to make a paper plane’. These proved tricky to follow and some interesting planes were created!
Next they were set the challenge to create their own games in groups. They’ve thought hard about their instructions and how these need to be set out for other children to follow.
This year the theme is ‘ Be the change: unite for a better internet’.
After a very informative assembly, Maple Class talked about what is meant by personal information and what should and shouldn’t be shared online.
We talked about photos that are used on the school website and our class blogs and looked at both to compare them.
The children enjoyed sorting out some images – some of random objects and others of people and decided in groups which would ok to share online and which would not.
The tricky bit was coming up with reasons why they’d made their choices.
The giant pine cone…
Explaining the seed survival game
Some seeds survived the insects, pests and rodents
On on the hunt for mini beasts
Some enjoyed getting VERY muddy !
Imagining we are bugs and viewing things through their eyes ..
Ask us about the ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’ song
Even the adults had fun!
Making our habitats for the animals we’d chosen
A fantastic day was had by all!
