Wonderful walk for Ascension Day

Yesterday Maple Class joined the rest of the school on their wonderful (but hot) walk up to Woodborough Hill. Once arrived the children listened to Reverend Larkey before tucking eagerly into their packed lunches.

Tag, hide and seek and other games followed before the descent back down and back to school. Not one child in Maple Class moaned that their legs hurt so well done to you all!

Canal Art

The children have enjoyed designing their own signs for a canal barge which will be on display shortly just outside Maple Class. They chose their names carefully and worked really hard on the lettering, making it 3D. They have a few final touches to add before they go on show.

Busy, busy, busy!

Since the start of this term we have been very busy ; starting our Canals topic and looking at life for the navvies, practising our throwing , catching and batting skills in PE and also revising lots of maths reading for our assessments.

PE

Before we were let loose with a cricket bat, Mrs Needham asked us to demonstrate our throwing and catching skills. We played some fun games whilst doing this!

Mrs Needham was very impressed with our hand-eye coordination when we were given a cricket bat- 99% managed to hit the ball first time!

Maths

We enjoyed using rulers and metre sticks in our maths lesson to measure objects around the room- it had bee a little while since we had looked at measures but we got there in the end.

Art

The Narrowboat signs are coming along nicely and we are looking forward to sharing these on a display just outside the classroom- watch this space!
